Congratulations to the Edmonton Musculoskeletal Centre, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. More than 130 people gathered at the Marriott Hotel at the River Cree Casino and Resort in Edmonton on September 30 to mark the occasion. Among the guests were current and former staff and surgeons from Edmonton Musculoskeletal Centre, staff from ABJHI, the Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network, and Alberta Health Services, as well as nurses, therapists and managers from the orthopaedic units of hospitals.
The Edmonton Musculoskeletal Centre is a central portal for referrals for patients with hip and knee arthritis and foot and ankle issues. It also provides consultation with a surgeon for people who have arthritis in their hips or knees and its staff provide care for surgical and non-surgical patients.
The largest facility of its kind in Alberta, the centre offers a team approach to care for each of the more than 7,000 patients who use its services annually. Each of its 25 surgeons works with a registered nurse case manager, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, dietician, and medical office assistant. All services, except surgery and post-surgery recovery, are provided in or through the clinic.
