Congratulations to Lauren Beaupre who has been named the Dr. David Magee Endowed Chair in Musculoskeletal Research, effective July 1.
Dr. Beaupre is a professor in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and an adjunct assistant professor in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on recovery of physical function and quality of life as well as health services utilization by people with bone and joint illness, including elderly hip fracture patients and total joint replacement patients.
Dr. Beaupre’s research focus has made her a close collaborator with ABJHI and the Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network (BJH SCN) in programs to improve hip fracture prevention and treatment. She is co-lead of the Clinical Committee and a member of the Steering Committee for the Fragility and Stability Program. She is also principal investigator in STOP Fracture, a study evaluating strategies developed by the BJH SCN to reduce recurrent fractures caused by osteoporosis.
