The quality of care for hip and knee replacement patients in Alberta has been fundamentally transformed over the past decade. Today, patients are getting quicker access to consultation and surgery, having better results from their surgery, getting home from hospital sooner, and experiencing fewer complications after surgery. We are also doing more with existing resources.
ABJHI has played a central role in bringing about these improvements through its work with surgeons, physicians and other health professionals, the Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network, researchers, and Alberta Health Services.
The transformation extends across all the essential dimensions of health care quality – safety, access, effectiveness, efficiency, appropriateness and acceptability.
