Consultation is open for a report that will be submitted to Health Canada in June 2020 on how to improve how Canadians understand, prevent and manage pain. The Canadian Pain Task Force, a federal advisory committee established to provide advice to Health Canada on evidence and best practices for the prevention and management of chronic pain, is looking for input on how to more effectively address pain in Canada. The consultation is open to all Canadians, with a focus on:

  • People personally impacted by pain
  • Family members and friends of people living with pain
  • Health care professionals, service providers, support workers and caregivers
  • Civil society and community groups working in areas related to pain, or social determinants of pain
  • Pain researchers and academics
  • Private industry and insurers

You can share your ideas online using their ‘questionnaire’ or ‘share your experience’ tools, or by letter post or email. It takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete the questionnaire. For more information on how to participate, visit the Government of Canada’s Canadian Pain Task Force website: https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/programs/consultation-understand-prevent-manage-pain.html

The consultation is open online from February 27 to April 17, 2020.
