The Board of Directors of the Alberta Bone and Joint Health Institute (ABJHI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Donald Dick as Chair of the Board. As ABJHI looks to expanding current relationships and developing new partnerships in the future, Dr. Dick will bring energy towards the ABJHI mission of providing widespread access to evidence-based bone and joint information and care.

As a founding member of ABJHI and continued member of the Board, Dr. Dick has readily accepted the Chair position. As an orthopaedic surgeon and Alberta Health Services Senior Medical Director (Health Outcomes), he provides unique guidance into innovative ways to deliver bone and joint health care to Albertans. As former Senior Medical Director for the Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network (BJH SCN), Dr. Dick was at the centre of building the successful relationship that ABJHI has with the BJH SCN. He is also Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association and is past President of the Alberta Orthopaedic Society.

Ian Robinson has been the Chair of the Board of Directors since the Institute’s inception in 2004, helping build ABJHI to the successful organization it is today. Mr. Robinson has been a tireless leader in stewarding ABJHI’s commitment to improving outcomes for people with bone and joint disorders and conditions. Throughout the ups and downs of economic and public health cycles ABJHI has experienced, his strong business acumen was crucial to the continued success of the Institute. Following his decision to step back from the Chair position, Mr. Robinson will remain as a member of the Board, committed to directing the strategic vision of our organization. We are grateful for the guidance and dedication he has lent in his role as chair over the years.
